About the Role

MTN Nigeria, Africa's leading telecommunications powerhouse, is seeking a dedicated and analytical Accountant to join our dynamic Financial Operations and Reporting team. In this pivotal role, you will ensure rigorous compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and drive the preparation of accurate statutory financial statements, supporting our continued growth and digital transformation across the nation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in analyzing, developing, and managing the implementation of MTN Nigeria accounting policies across the organization in accordance with IFRS.
  • Review product content documents and draft contracts to highlight accounting implications and ensure alignment with group policies.
  • Perform impact assessments on new or amended accounting standards and facilitate knowledge-sharing sessions.
  • Collaborate closely with financial operations teams to produce comprehensive interim and annual statutory reports.
  • Conduct technical research on complex commercial transactions and provide expert accounting consultations.
  • Drive month-end close activities and act as a key liaison for internal and external auditors to ensure seamless audit processes.
  • Handle complex, unusual accounting issues under IFRS and offer expert guidance for resolving non-standard transactions.
  • Provide critical financial insights, trends analysis, and support for forecasting and budgeting initiatives.
Qualifications
  • First degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • Professional accounting certification such as ICAN, ACCA, or equivalent.
  • 3 to 7 years of relevant experience, preferably within a medium to large organization or an internationally affiliated audit firm.
  • Prior experience in the telecommunications industry or financial management capacity is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated expertise in handling complex IFRS accounting standard issues and process reengineering projects.
  • Exceptional analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills with complete fluency in English.
