About the Role
FHI 360 is a nonprofit human development organization dedicated to improving lives in lasting ways by advancing integrated, locally driven solutions. We serve more than 70 countries, combining expertise in health, education, nutrition, environment, economic development, civil society, gender, youth, research, and technology. This Accountant position supports our Finance team in managing accurate financial records and reporting for development projects in Nigeria.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain accurate books of accounts, including checking accounts, equipment registers, and supply records
- Support preparation of monthly and annual financial reports with bank documentation and receipts
- Monitor and analyze subproject budgets in accordance with approved work plans
- Produce periodic and ad hoc financial reports and expenditure analysis
- Assist with review and audit of Country Office and subrecipient reports for reimbursements
- Process cash advances, petty cash management, and refunds
- Prepare fiscal year budgets and enter data into FHI's accounting software
- Support donor reporting and financial documentation
- Create and maintain financial spreadsheets and budget allocations
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration with 5+ years relevant experience; OR Master's degree with 3+ years experience
- Minimum 3 years' experience in accounting for international development programs
- Proficiency in accounting software, spreadsheets, and MIS systems
- Strong knowledge of USAID programs and NGO regulations (advantageous)
- CPA, ACA, or ICAN certification (advantageous)
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and report writing skills
- Demonstrated integrity, professionalism, and ability to work independently
- Willingness to travel minimum 25%
