About the Role
Action Against Hunger Nigeria (ACF Nigeria) Ltd/Gte is a global humanitarian organization committed to ending world hunger and saving the lives of malnourished children. We are currently seeking a dynamic and results-driven WASH Officer to join our team in Nguru, Yobe State, starting October 2026. In this role, you will play a crucial part in coordinating public health promotion activities, managing non-food item (NFI) distributions, and implementing sustainable water, sanitation, and hygiene initiatives for vulnerable populations.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise hygiene promotion and NFI distribution activities in alignment with Action Against Hunger strategies and international guidelines.
- Design context-specific hygiene promotion and Baby Wash approaches based on comprehensive multi-sectoral rapid needs assessments.
- Plan beneficiary selections and lead NFI kit distributions in close collaboration with Field Assistants and the MEAL team for post-distribution monitoring.
- Conduct WASH FIT assessments for health facilities, develop training tools, and build the capacity of internal staff and external stakeholders.
- Represent the organization at local WASH coordination meetings, technical working groups, and integrated health and nutrition activities.
- Manage, mentor, and evaluate direct reporting staff in accordance with organizational performance management policies.
- Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Environmental Health, Hygiene and Sanitation, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in WASH, hygiene promotion, and community engagement within the humanitarian sector.
- Demonstrated ability to work flexibly in challenging operational environments and remote locations across Northern Nigeria.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Required language fluency: English and Hausa, with proficiency in Kanuri being a strong advantage.
