About the Role
NewGlobe supports visionary governments to transform public education systems, the cornerstone of a prosperous, equitable, and peaceful society. As Vice President, Software Development, you own our software engineering function and lead it through its most important transition yet: becoming a genuinely AI-native engineering organisation. You will set technical direction, build and grow teams, and be accountable for delivery while leading the shift in how software gets built in a mission-driven, cost-conscious environment in Lagos, reporting directly to the Chief Technology Officer.
Key Responsibilities- Own the software engineering function end to end, including delivery teams, solutions architecture, DevOps/CloudOps, and the data platform.
- Lead the strategic transformation to a truly AI-native engineering organisation, advancing department AI maturity.
- Lead from the front by staying hands-on, pairing with engineers, and setting standards for agentic workflows and AI-assisted development.
- Reshape QA and product design functions away from manual tasks toward factory capabilities that test and design at scale using agents.
- Manage the human side of technological change, addressing developer concerns and energising the team through shifting workflows.
- Deliver high-quality software against programme and product commitments with a lean, resourceful team.
- Recruit, coach, performance-manage, and grow software engineers in close partnership with executive leadership.
- A strong track record leading software engineering teams, setting technical direction, and managing delivery accountability.
- Real, in-organisation experience driving AI-native and agentic engineering adoption with measurable maturity outcomes.
- Hands-on technical credibility with the ability to build, code, and pair using modern AI tooling.
- Proven experience leading people through major technological change, reskilling, and managing organizational resistance.
- A builder's instinct for leverage, turning manual functions into automated tools, systems, and agents.
- Comfort operating lean, with urgency, and succeeding in a mission-driven context.
- Based in, or willing to relocate to, Lagos, Nigeria.
