About the Role
Bluechip Technologies Limited is a leading business application firm focused exclusively on assisting organizations in planning, designing, implementing, and operating business application solutions and strategies that are central to creating and maintaining a competitive business advantage. We are currently looking for a skilled and dedicated Unix Engineer to join our expanding infrastructure team in Nigeria and manage mission-critical systems.
Key Responsibilities- Administer and support Red Hat Linux, Solaris, and Oracle Linux systems across enterprise environments.
- Handle operating system installation, configuration, patching, and complex troubleshooting activities.
- Implement and manage virtualization technologies and enterprise clustering for high availability and fault tolerance.
- Perform user and group account management in strict compliance with corporate security policies.
- Monitor server health metrics including disk space, CPU, memory, network usage, and concurrent logins.
- Conduct scheduled backups and ensure complete compliance with company data protection policies.
- Provide reliable remote and on-site operating system support for critical client deployments.
- Liaise directly with hardware and software vendors to swiftly resolve technical issues.
- Ensure system hardening and assist the security team with comprehensive audits and remediation efforts.
- Lead technology refresh projects within the infrastructure domain to drive operational efficiency.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
- Minimum of 8 years of post-NYSC professional experience in Unix and Linux system administration.
- Strong working knowledge of Red Hat, Solaris, and Oracle Linux operating systems.
- Solid experience in enterprise virtualization platforms such as VMware and KVM.
- Familiarity with enterprise clustering, storage integration, and backup systems.
- Demonstrated experience working within telecommunications or high-tech industry environments.
- Exceptional troubleshooting, problem-solving, and performance tuning skills.
- Industry certifications such as RHCSA or RHCE are highly desirable.
- Windows Server experience or relevant certifications will be considered an added advantage.
