About the Role
The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Training Officer to drive our agricultural capacity-building initiatives in Plateau State. In this vital role, you will coordinate state-level training needs assessments, adapt curricula, and oversee hands-on training delivery for youth, women, and marginalized groups at Youth Agribusiness Parks and partner institutions.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate state-level training needs assessments and adapt technical, business, and soft-skills curricula to local value chains.
- Plan and schedule training cohorts, managing venues, facilitators, and participant mobilization alongside the logistics team.
- Oversee practical, high-quality training delivery at Youth Agribusiness Parks and schools, including inclusive programs for persons with disabilities and displaced youth.
- Track participant attendance and progress, maintaining accurate data for monitoring and evaluation systems.
- Facilitate linkages between trained participants and mentorship, financing, cooperatives, and market opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with IITA safeguarding, gender-inclusion, and health and safety standards across all training activities.
- Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, Agricultural Extension, Agribusiness, Education, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years of proven experience in agricultural training, extension services, or youth capacity-building programs.
- Sound technical knowledge in priority value chains such as poultry, aquaculture, horticulture, rice, maize, or cassava.
- Demonstrated expertise in adult-learning principles, facilitation, coaching, and community engagement.
- Strong digital literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and local language fluency in Plateau State.
