About the Role
The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Training Officer to join our team in Ebonyi. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in combating hunger and poverty by coordinating state-level training needs assessments, scheduling cohorts, and overseeing the delivery of practical, high-quality agricultural education for youth, women, and marginalized groups. Key Responsibilities- Coordinate state-level training needs assessments and adapt technical, business, and soft-skills curricula to local value chains.
- Plan training cohorts, mobilizing venues, facilitators, and participants in collaboration with the State Admin and Logistics Officer.
- Oversee hands-on training delivery at Youth Agribusiness Parks and other designated centers to ensure consistent quality.
- Coordinate inclusive training programs for persons with disabilities and internally displaced youth using tailored, multilingual methods.
- Support the implementation of the Start Them Early Program (STEP) in secondary schools and maintain accurate M&E data records.
- Facilitate the distribution of training materials, starter kits, and market linkages for successful participants.
- Prepare comprehensive periodic training reports and ensure full compliance with IITA safeguarding and gender-inclusion standards.
- Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture, Agricultural Extension, Agribusiness, Education, or a related field.
- 3 to 5 years of professional experience in agricultural training, extension services, vocational training, or youth capacity-building.
- Strong technical knowledge of priority value chains such as poultry, aquaculture, horticulture, rice, maize, or cassava.
- Demonstrated experience in adult learning principles, facilitation, coaching, and community stakeholder engagement.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications with strong organizational, report-writing, and communication skills.
- Willingness to travel frequently within the state to rural training locations and agribusiness parks.
