About the Role
M54 Studios is an African theatre production company born from a mission to elevate African storytelling across live theatre, film, and digital platforms. From sold-out UK stage productions to the development of a premium streaming platform, M54 builds cultural IP that travels and redefines how African stories reach global audiences. We are currently seeking a dynamic and innovative Theatre / Film Director to lead the artistic vision of our upcoming slate of stage and screen productions.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the artistic vision of stage and screen projects from inception to final delivery, ensuring alignment with the studio's overarching cultural and creative goals.
- Direct casting sessions, auditions, and table reads to assemble exceptional talent for live theatre and film productions.
- Conduct rehearsals and guide actors to deliver powerful, authentic, and emotionally resonant performances.
- Collaborate closely with producers, writers, cinematographers, set designers, and costume supervisors to create cohesive storytelling choices.
- Manage production schedules and maintain creative momentum on set and in the rehearsal room.
- Oversee post-production artistic decisions where applicable, ensuring the finished production meets the highest international standards.
- Proven professional experience as a Director in theatre, film, or digital media production.
- Deep understanding of African narrative structures, cultural nuances, and contemporary performance arts.
- Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to inspire creative teams and manage high-pressure environments.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional technical and production teams.
- A robust portfolio showcasing successful stage or screen directing credits.
