About the Role
Guinea Insurance Plc, a fully restructured and NAICOM-licensed leader in the Nigerian insurance sector, is seeking a dynamic and results-driven professional to join our team in Lagos. As the Team Lead, Special Risk, you will play a pivotal role in managing, underwriting, and administering our high-value and complex risk portfolios, ensuring optimal technical profitability and adherence to regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities- Assess, analyse, and underwrite complex and high-value risks within approved underwriting authority and company guidelines.
- Determine appropriate policy terms, conditions, warranties, exclusions, and competitive pricing to achieve technical profitability.
- Monitor portfolio performance, analyse loss ratios, track premium growth, and recommend corrective actions for underperforming accounts.
- Collaborate closely with Risk Management, Claims, and Reinsurance teams to secure adequate facultative and treaty protection.
- Build and maintain strong professional relationships with key brokers, intermediaries, and major corporate clients.
- Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to underwriting team members to foster professional growth.
- First Degree in Insurance, Actuarial Science, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- Professional qualification in Insurance, preferably a Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN) certification.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in general insurance, with a strong focus on underwriting.
- At least 3 years of specialised experience in Special Risks, Corporate Underwriting, Energy, Engineering, Property, or Marine insurance.
- Demonstrated supervisory or team leadership experience with a proven track record of managing complex commercial risks.
