About the Role
FairMoney is a leading digital platform in Nigeria empowering users to access instant loans within minutes through our Android application. We are looking for an experienced Team Lead Golang to head our engineering team, focusing on building and scaling reliable technology solutions for our core lending and credit products. In this role, you will blend strong technical execution with people leadership, collaborating closely with Product, Data, and Risk stakeholders to transform business objectives into robust technical architectures.
Key Responsibilities- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of software engineers while fostering a collaborative engineering culture.
- Own the technical direction and delivery lifecycle of systems supporting digital lending and credit products.
- Design, develop, and scale reliable Golang backend services and distributed systems, leading by example through hands-on coding.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Risk, and Data teams to define technical solutions, system architecture, and delivery priorities.
- Establish rigorous engineering standards encompassing code quality, automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, observability, and system resilience.
- Identify and resolve technical debt, performance bottlenecks, and reliability issues across high-volume transactional systems.
- Conduct regular one-on-ones, performance reviews, and career development sessions to nurture technical talent.
- Minimum of 7 years of software engineering experience with deep expertise in backend development using Golang.
- At least 2 years of experience managing or leading engineering teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Hands-on coding capability is essential; you are expected to design and code new systems while leading from the front.
- Strong background in designing distributed systems, microservices, APIs, and asynchronous event-driven architectures.
- Domain experience in fintech, lending, credit, payments, or related financial sectors.
- Solid understanding of relational database design, optimization, indexing, and query performance.
