About the Role
The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) is a leading international nonprofit research-for-development organization committed to addressing hunger, malnutrition, and poverty across Africa. We are currently seeking a dedicated and organized professional to fill the role of State Administrative and Logistics Officer for our operations in Adamawa. This position plays a vital role in ensuring the seamless execution of agricultural research, community programs, and youth agribusiness initiatives through efficient administration, logistics coordination, and procurement management at the state level.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and coordinate logistics for state-level activities including training sessions, workshops, community sensitization events, and Youth Agribusiness Park activities.
- Manage daily administrative functions of the state office, covering office supplies, asset registers, utilities, and vendor service contracts.
- Handle local, low-value procurement in compliance with IITA policies and approved work plans, submitting consolidated requests for higher thresholds.
- Oversee the receipt, storage, inventory, and distribution of program materials and starter kits to participants with accurate record-keeping.
- Supervise state drivers, coordinate vehicle scheduling, monitor maintenance and fuel usage, and enforce safety policies.
- Manage petty cash, prepare financial retirements, and submit timely expenditure returns to the Project Accountant.
- Support human resources administration, including staff onboarding, attendance tracking, and travel coordination.
- Liaise with local government authorities, community leaders, and stakeholders to facilitate smooth program implementation.
- Ensure strict adherence to IITA safeguarding, health, safety, and security protocols across all state activities.
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related discipline.
- 2 to 4 years of relevant administrative and logistics experience, preferably within an NGO, research institute, or development program.
- Strong working knowledge of Adamawa state, local government structures, and community dynamics.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Excellent organizational, planning, and multi-tasking skills with high attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal and communication abilities, with a high level of integrity and professionalism.
- Willingness to travel frequently within the state, including rural and peri-urban locations.
