About the Role
Ascentech Services Limited is currently recruiting a dynamic and qualified Soil Testing Lab Technician to join our client's growing team in Nigeria. In this vital role, you will perform rigorous laboratory and field tests on various construction materials to ensure compliance with engineering specifications and quality standards. Key Responsibilities- Collect, prepare, and test construction material samples including soil, concrete, asphalt, and aggregates.
- Conduct comprehensive soil tests such as moisture content, sieve analysis, Atterberg limits, Proctor, and CBR.
- Perform concrete tests including slump testing, sampling, cube preparation, and compressive-strength evaluations.
- Execute asphalt and aggregate tests, covering gradation, density, bitumen content, and Marshall mix-design tests.
- Carry out accurate field density measurements and other on-site material assessments.
- Operate, clean, calibrate, and maintain sophisticated laboratory and field-testing equipment.
- Record test results meticulously and prepare detailed, accurate laboratory and field reports.
- Ensure all testing procedures strictly follow approved engineering standards and protocols.
- Minimum of OND, HND, or B.Sc in Civil Engineering, Geology, Building Technology, Materials Engineering, or a related field.
- Demonstrated practical experience in soil, concrete, asphalt, aggregate, and general construction material testing.
- Thorough knowledge of relevant testing procedures, standards, and safety guidelines.
- Proficiency in operating specialized laboratory and field-testing equipment.
- Strong documentation, analytical, and reporting skills.
- Willingness and physical readiness to work both in a laboratory environment and on active construction sites.
