About the Role
The African Medical Centre of Excellence (AMCE) Abuja is a premier 500-bed specialty hospital offering world-class diagnostics and treatment in oncology, cardiovascular, and haematological care. Developed by Afreximbank in clinical partnership with King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, we are seeking a dedicated Senior Registrar in Cardiology to provide high-quality, evidence-based care while advancing specialist training under expert supervision.
Key ResponsibilitiesAs a Senior Registrar in Cardiology, your daily duties will be dynamic and patient-focused:
- Assess and manage patients with complex cardiovascular conditions across inpatient, outpatient, and critical-care settings.
- Perform or assist with approved non-invasive and invasive cardiac procedures under consultant supervision, maintaining accurate procedural logs.
- Participate actively in the cardiology on-call rota, responding promptly to acute coronary syndromes, arrhythmias, and cardiac arrests.
- Contribute to clinical governance, morbidity and mortality reviews, audits, and quality-improvement initiatives.
- Engage in teaching, training junior residents, and participating in academic research and multidisciplinary heart-team meetings.
To qualify for this prestigious role, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Possess a recognized medical degree (MBBS, MBChB, or equivalent).
- Hold full registration with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) along with a valid annual practising licence.
- Have successfully completed relevant Part I Fellowship/Specialty Examinations from NPMCN, WACP, or equivalent, qualifying you for a Senior Registrar appointment.
- Demonstrate core competency in interpreting ECGs, cardiac biomarkers, and echocardiography.
- Hold current BLS and ACLS certifications or commit to obtaining them within the stipulated period.
