About the Role
The University of Benin (UNIBEN), a prestigious federal university founded in 1970, is seeking a dedicated and experienced professional for the position of Senior Librarian at the renowned John Harris Library. Key Responsibilities- Manage and oversee daily operations and administration of the John Harris Library resources and specialized sections.
- Provide advanced reference and research support services to undergraduate students, postgraduate scholars, and faculty members.
- Develop, curate, and maintain print and digital collection development policies aligned with university academic programs.
- Conduct lectures, workshops, and information literacy training sessions for students and academic staff.
- Engage in active scholarly research and contribute to peer-reviewed publications as required for academic advancement.
- Collaborate with faculty departments to integrate library resources effectively into curricula and research projects.
- Possess a Master in Library Science (M.L.S.) or a Master's degree in a related academic discipline.
- Must possess a First degree with not below a Second-Class Upper Division, or a Second-Class Lower Division with a completed PhD.
- Minimum of five (5) years of relevant teaching or professional academic library experience.
- Demonstrated record of at least three (3) peer-reviewed publications in reputable academic journals.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and digital literacy skills tailored to modern academic library environments.
