The University of Benin (UNIBEN) is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Senior Lecturer to join our esteemed Department of Optometry within the Faculty of Life Sciences. Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver engaging, high-quality lectures and practical training in Low Vision and Vision Science to undergraduate and postgraduate Optometry students.
  • Supervise student research projects, dissertations, and clinical practices at various academic levels.
  • Conduct original, peer-reviewed research in vision science and low vision, securing grants and publishing in reputable academic journals.
  • Participate in curriculum development, departmental administration, and academic committee meetings.
  • Provide clinical instruction and community outreach services related to optometry and vision care.

Qualifications
  • Possession of a PhD in Optometry, Vision Science, or a closely related discipline from a recognized and accredited university.
  • Must hold a basic First Degree in Optometry with not below a Second-Class Upper Division, or a Second-Class Lower Division accompanied by a PhD.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of active teaching and research experience at the university level.
  • A strong publication record with a minimum of eight (8) peer-reviewed articles in reputable national and international journals.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor students and secure research funding or grants is an added advantage.
