Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver engaging undergraduate and postgraduate lectures in Optometry with a specialized focus on Environmental and Public Health Optometry.
  • Supervise undergraduate and graduate research projects, theses, and dissertations.
  • Conduct high-impact, peer-reviewed research and publish findings in reputable local and international academic journals.
  • Participate in curriculum development, departmental administration, and academic committee meetings.
  • Mentor students and provide guidance on academic and career development pathways.
  • Collaborate with industry partners and public health organizations on community outreach and eye care initiatives.
Qualifications
  • Possession of a PhD in Optometry or a closely related discipline from a recognized and accredited university.
  • Must possess a First Degree in Optometry with a minimum of a Second-Class Upper Division, or a Second-Class Lower Division accompanied by a PhD.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of active teaching and research experience at the university level.
  • A strong publication record comprising a minimum of eight (8) peer-reviewed articles in reputable journals.
  • Demonstrated ability to attract research grants and collaborate across disciplines is an added advantage.
