About the Role
The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) is seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Journalist to supervise the production and output of our flagship Focus on Africa program. In this pivotal role based in Nigeria, you will lead a talented team to deliver engaging, accurate, and impactful content that resonates with audiences across Africa and the globe, covering critical politics, economics, and cultural stories.
Key Responsibilities- Lead editorial planning, development, and production of Focus on Africa content across broadcast and digital platforms.
- Manage, mentor, and inspire a high-performing production team, fostering creativity and inclusion.
- Ensure all content strictly adheres to BBC editorial standards for accuracy, impartiality, and quality.
- Drive audience growth by overseeing digital outputs, including podcasts, livestreams, and social media strategies.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with international correspondents, bureaux, and contributors.
- Extensive experience in television, digital, and streaming content production, with a strong background in daily news and current affairs.
- Deep understanding of African affairs, global news, and fast-paced breaking news environments.
- Exceptional leadership skills with a proven track record of managing and mentoring editorial teams.
