About the Role
Ascentech Services Limited is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to oversee financial reporting, compliance, and accounting operations in Nigeria. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in maintaining accurate financial records and providing strategic financial insights to support business growth.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee daily accounting and financial transactions
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
- Manage general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable
- Perform comprehensive bank, supplier, and customer account reconciliations
- Monitor cash flow, operational expenses, and financial transactions
- Prepare budgets, financial forecasts, and detailed variance analysis
- Ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial statements
- Maintain proper accounting records and robust documentation
- Ensure full compliance with applicable Nigerian tax and regulatory requirements
- Support internal and external audits by providing required schedules and documentation
- Review financial data to identify discrepancies or unusual transactions
- Establish and maintain effective internal financial controls
- Provide management with actionable financial insights to support strategic business decisions
- Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff where applicable
- BSc or HND in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a senior role
- Active professional qualification such as ICAN, ACCA, or equivalent is a strong advantage
- Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and financial reporting
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and modern accounting software or ERP systems
- Proven experience with reconciliations, financial statements, budgeting, and tax compliance
- Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills
- High level of accuracy, integrity, and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and consistently meet strict deadlines
