About the Role
Bell Oil & Gas is a wholly-owned Nigerian independent oil services company delivering high-quality products and services across the energy industry. We are currently seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Sand Blasting and Painting Technician to join our dynamic operations team in Nigeria. In this role, you will play a vital part in ensuring the longevity and durability of our industrial valves through precision surface preparation and coating applications, adhering strictly to industry and company standards.
Key Responsibilities- Clean, prepare, and mask valve surfaces prior to abrasive blasting and sandblasting operations.
- Perform pre-start equipment checks and maintain sandblasting and painting tools for optimal performance.
- Execute abrasive sandblasting and industrial painting of valves in strict accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Mix paints and primers accurately to precise customer specifications and maintain consumable supplies responsibly.
- Operate large and small spraying equipment, compressors, and power tools efficiently.
- Inspect units and parts before and after coating, measuring Wet Film Thickness (WFT) and Dry Film Thickness (DFT) to detect any flaws.
- Sand and prepare surfaces to repair imperfections and thoroughly clean the paint booth and equipment using solvents.
- Strictly adhere to all corporate Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) standards, including the mandatory use of personal protective equipment.
- Maintain a clean, safe workstation and accurately complete all project documentation.
- Minimum of an OND or HND in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, Welding & Fabrication, or a related discipline.
- Relevant Trade Test, vocational training, or certification in Industrial Blasting & Painting or Automotive Spray Painting is a strong advantage.
- At least 3 years of hands-on industrial valve blasting and painting experience within the Oil and Gas, Power, or Automotive sectors.
- Demonstrated expertise in surface preparation, paint mixing, coating application, and using abrasive blasting equipment.
- Strong attention to detail, teamwork abilities, and a deeply ingrained HSE culture.
