We are currently seeking a qualified and experienced Safety Officer to join our growing team in Nigeria and help us maintain our unwavering commitment to workplace safety and project success.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure strict compliance with company safety policies and applicable Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) regulations.
- Conduct regular site inspections and comprehensive safety audits to identify potential hazards and mitigate operational risks.
- Enforce the mandatory and proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) by all workers and site visitors.
- Facilitate engaging daily toolbox talks, safety briefings, and targeted HSE training sessions for site personnel.
- Investigate accidents, workplace incidents, and near-misses thoroughly, preparing detailed reports and recommending preventative measures.
- Monitor daily site activities to ensure safe work practices and initiate immediate corrective actions when unsafe conditions arise.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date HSE records, documentation, and regulatory compliance reports.
- Foster and promote a robust, proactive safety culture across all active construction sites and operational units.
- Possession of an HND or B.Sc. in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 3 to 10 years of relevant professional experience, with a strong background in the construction or oil and gas industry.
- Relevant professional HSE certifications (such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent) will be a distinct added advantage.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Nigerian construction site safety practices, environmental laws, and relevant HSE regulations.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, alongside strong observational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
