About the Role
Dangote Group, Africa's leading diversified business conglomerate, is seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Rigger to join our dynamic operations in Nigeria. In this role, you will play a critical part in ensuring that all heavy lifting, equipment installation, and material handling activities are executed safely, efficiently, and in strict compliance with international HSE standards.
Key Responsibilities- Execute safe rigging, slinging, and positioning of heavy equipment, machinery, structures, and plant components.
- Conduct thorough pre-use inspections of all rigging gear, including slings, shackles, hooks, and wire ropes.
- Estimate load weights, determine centers of gravity, and select appropriate lifting methods.
- Coordinate seamlessly with crane operators and lifting teams during complex plant maneuvers.
- Adhere strictly to lifting plans, Permit-to-Work (PTW) protocols, and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
- Assist in the erection, alignment, and dismantling of mechanical equipment and piping systems.
- Promptly report any equipment defects, near misses, or unsafe operational conditions to the supervisor.
- National Diploma (ND) in Engineering or Trade Test Grade I, II, and III in Rigging or Mechanical Fitting.
- Minimum of 3 years of industrial rigging experience in manufacturing, cement, oil and gas, or heavy industries.
- Relevant certifications such as Certified Rigger, Banksman/Slinger, Working at Height, and HSE Levels 1-3.
- Sound understanding of load calculations, crane signals, and rigging drawings.
