About the Role
Vicinity 95.3 FM, a dynamic and community-focused radio station broadcasting from the heart of Ikeji Ile, Ijeshaland, Osun State, Nigeria, is looking for a passionate and driven Reporter to join our growing newsroom. In this role, you will play a vital part in keeping our listeners informed, engaged, and connected to local and regional events. If you have a nose for news, excellent communication skills, and a strong commitment to journalistic integrity, we want you on our team.
Key Responsibilities- Research, investigate, and break news stories relevant to the local community and the wider Osun State region.
- Conduct interviews with newsmakers, community leaders, eyewitnesses, and local stakeholders.
- Write clear, concise, and accurate news scripts for daily radio broadcasts and digital platforms.
- Travel to event locations to gather live audio reports, soundbites, and on-the-ground coverage.
- Collaborate with producers, editors, and fellow broadcasters to deliver engaging and timely news bulletins.
- Ensure all reported content adheres to broadcasting standards, ethics, and legal guidelines.
- Degree or Diploma in Mass Communication, Journalism, English, or a related field.
- Proven experience working in a media house, campus radio, or professional newsroom environment.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English and proficiency in local languages.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain reliable local sources.
- Ability to work under pressure, meet tight daily deadlines, and adapt to breaking news situations.
- Familiarity with digital audio editing tools and social media news dissemination is an added advantage.
