About the Role
Unilever International (UI), the fastest-growing and most profitable white-space arm of Unilever, is looking for a driven and detail-oriented Regulatory Affairs Assistant Manager to join its dynamic team. This role is central to ensuring full regulatory compliance for Unilever's Home Care, Beauty & Wellbeing, Personal Care, and Foods portfolios across East and West Africa, with a strong focus on Francophone markets. You will be the go-to regulatory expert supporting product registration, certification, and compliance for one of the world's most trusted consumer goods companies.
Reporting to the Head of Regulatory Affairs for 1UL Malaysia, UI Asia & Africa, you will work closely with cross-functional teams including R&D, Marketing, and Supply Chain, as well as external regulatory partners, to ensure Unilever's innovative products meet local and international standards while maintaining the speed and agility that define UI's success.
Key Responsibilities- Act as the primary regulatory contact for UI business operations across East, West, and Francophone Africa.
- Build and maintain deep expertise in local regulations spanning Home Care, Beauty & Wellbeing, Personal Care, and Foods categories.
- Design and implement robust processes to ensure ongoing product compliance assurance.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with R&D, Marketing, and Supply Chain teams to support compliance objectives.
- Collaborate with external Regulatory Affairs Partners (RAPs) to build a reliable compliance ecosystem.
- Provide regulatory guidance on innovation and renovation projects, including handling queries from bodies such as NAFDAC.
- Partner with BG RA and 1UL RA teams to streamline regulatory workflows and best practices.
- Continuously evaluate existing UI products against evolving regulatory requirements.
- Champion digital transformation within Regulatory Affairs processes and reporting.
- A degree or MSc in Chemistry, Food Science, or a related discipline.
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in regulatory affairs, ideally within East or West African markets.
- Proven ability to design and implement compliance processes and best practices.
- Strong business acumen, agility, and personal mastery in a fast-paced environment.
- Independent problem-solver capable of working across multi-functional teams and hierarchies.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage senior stakeholders and inspire operational teams.
- Digitally savvy, with a proactive approach to incorporating digital tools into regulatory workflows.
- Fluency in English required; fluency in French is highly desirable.
