About the Role

Albarka Healthspring Foundation (AHSF) is a dynamic non-governmental organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for vulnerable populations across North East Nigeria. Operating in both emergency and developmental contexts, our mission is to identify critical community gaps and bridge them through strategic resource planning and effective grassroots implementation. We are currently looking for a dedicated Psychosocial First Aider to join our team in Unguwar Rogo and deliver essential mental health and psychosocial support services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide immediate, humane, supportive, and practical assistance to individuals experiencing acute distress following crisis events.
  • Assess urgent needs and concerns of beneficiaries, ensuring they receive appropriate, culturally sensitive guidance.
  • Connect affected individuals and families with long-term mental health services, community resources, and protection networks.
  • Facilitate community sensitization sessions and group support activities focused on coping mechanisms and psychological resilience.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of all psychosocial interventions and draft regular activity reports for project supervisors.
  • Collaborate closely with other humanitarian team members, protection officers, and local stakeholders to ensure a coordinated response.
Qualifications
  • Possession of a relevant degree, diploma, or certification in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Nursing, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in providing Psychosocial First Aid (PFA), trauma counseling, or community-based mental health support within Nigeria.
  • Strong interpersonal, active listening, and communication skills with the ability to empathize with distressed individuals.
  • Deep understanding of the local context, cultural dynamics, and Hausa language proficiency required for the Unguwar Rogo community.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in emergency or fast-paced humanitarian environments.
  • High standards of professional ethics, confidentiality, and commitment to humanitarian principles.
