About the Role
Albarka Healthspring Foundation (AHSF) is a dedicated non-governmental organization committed to improving the quality of life for vulnerable populations across communities in North East Nigeria. Operating in both emergency and developmental contexts, AHSF identifies critical community gaps and bridges them through strategic resource planning and effective humanitarian implementation. We are currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated Psychosocial First Aider (PFA) to join our dynamic team in Minannata and provide essential emotional support to individuals affected by crisis and vulnerability.
Key Responsibilities- Provide humane, supportive, and practical assistance to individuals experiencing acute distress following crisis events.
- Assess urgent needs and concerns of vulnerable community members, ensuring appropriate referrals to specialized mental health services when necessary.
- Facilitate community-based psychoeducation sessions and awareness campaigns on mental health and coping mechanisms.
- Maintain accurate records and reports of psychosocial activities while strictly adhering to confidentiality and ethical guidelines.
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, community leaders, and local stakeholders to ensure a holistic approach to humanitarian response.
- Possession of a relevant degree or diploma in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Nursing, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in providing psychosocial support, counseling, or crisis intervention within humanitarian or community settings.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and active listening skills with deep cultural awareness and empathy.
- Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure while working in challenging or fast-paced environments.
- Fluency in English and local languages spoken in North East Nigeria is strongly preferred.
