We are currently recruiting a skilled Project Accountant on behalf of our client in the engineering and construction sector. In this role, you will play a vital part in overseeing the financial health of complex engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) initiatives, ensuring seamless cost tracking, accurate reporting, and strict regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities- Manage day-to-day accounting and financial operations specifically tailored for EPC projects.
- Monitor project costs, budgets, operating expenses, and overall financial performance.
- Prepare comprehensive project financial reports, statements, and detailed cost analyses.
- Track project expenditures against approved budgets, actively identifying and addressing variances.
- Process and reconcile invoices, payments, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.
- Review vendor and subcontractor invoices alongside supporting documentation to ensure accuracy.
- Maintain precise records of all project-related financial transactions.
- Support senior management with project budgeting, financial forecasting, and cash-flow management.
- Perform regular reconciliations of bank accounts, general ledgers, and project accounts.
- Ensure full compliance with applicable accounting standards, Nigerian tax regulations, and internal company policies.
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field.
- 1 to 3 years of relevant accounting experience, ideally gained within an EPC, engineering, construction, oil and gas, or project-based environment.
- Solid understanding of project accounting principles and cost control methodologies.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and modern accounting or ERP software.
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards and account reconciliation techniques.
- Exceptional analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask and manage numerous project-related transactions efficiently.
- Must reside in Abuja or demonstrate a clear willingness to relocate.
