About the Role

Results for Development (R4D) is a global nonprofit organization working in over 55 countries to help people escape poverty and reach their full potential. We apply fresh thinking and rigor to stubborn development challenges in health, education, and governance. We are currently seeking a dynamic and entrepreneurial Program Officer to join our Scaling Innovation Practice, based in Abuja, Nigeria. In this role, you will lead significant components of the Nigeria portfolio, including the UK-Nigeria S&T Cluster Partnership and Research-to-Enterprise Pilot, working within a fast-paced and collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead significant components of the UK-Nigeria S&T Cluster Partnership and Research-to-Enterprise Pilot, including priority sector research and ecosystem diagnostics.
  • Develop and execute personal workplans, ensuring high-quality and timely delivery of program activities with light-touch support from senior management.
  • Establish and maintain strong collaborative relationships with project partners, government ministries, research institutions, MSMEs, and the Nigerian research diaspora.
  • Conduct rapid research, stakeholder mapping, and produce well-evidenced briefs on technology innovation, research commercialization, and responsible AI governance.
  • Contribute to operational processes, including funder progress reporting, budgeting, procurement, and monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) strategies.
  • Support business development efforts by contributing to the writing of funding proposals and representing R4D at external conferences and events.

Qualifications
  • Master's degree with 3+ years or Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of relevant experience in global development, public policy, science and technology, innovation, or a related field.
  • Proven project management experience in donor-funded programs (such as FCDO), managing multiple workstreams and geographically dispersed teams.
  • Strong background in technology innovation, scaling innovation, and strengthening innovation ecosystems.
  • Impeccable writing, communication, and presentation skills with a demonstrated ability to engage multi-stakeholder audiences.
  • Strong organizational skills, strategic problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Must possess legal authorization to work in Nigeria.
  • Desirable: Professional project management qualification, experience with user-centered design or agile methodologies, and direct engagement with entrepreneurs.
