About the Role
The Federal University Otuoke (FUO), located in Bayelsa State within the Niger-Delta region, invites suitably qualified academics to apply for the prestigious position of Professor in Water Management. As a young and rapidly expanding federal institution established in 2011, we pride ourselves on academic excellence, innovative research, and community development. We are looking for an experienced academic leader to drive our Faculty of Environmental Sciences forward, fostering cutting-edge research in water resources and mentoring the next generation of scholars.
Key Responsibilities- Provide academic leadership in teaching, curriculum development, and research within the field of Water Management and related environmental disciplines.
- Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research projects to ensure high academic standards.
- Publish scholarly articles in reputable peer-reviewed local and international journals.
- Initiate, secure funding for, and manage impactful research projects that address regional and national water resource challenges.
- Participate in departmental, faculty, and university-wide committee meetings and administrative duties as assigned.
- Engage in community service and industry partnerships to promote sustainable water management practices.
- Possession of a good B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. degree (or equivalent) in Water Management, Hydrology, Environmental Sciences, or a closely related field from a recognized university.
- Extensive years of teaching and research experience in an approved tertiary institution commensurate with the professorial cadre.
- A robust portfolio of scholarly publications in high-impact, reputable academic journals.
- Demonstrated ability to attract research grants and lead multidisciplinary research teams.
- Adherence to the standards and criteria stipulated in the Federal University Otuoke Rules and Regulation Governing Conditions of Service of Senior Staff.
