M54 Studios is an African theatre production company born from a mission to elevate African storytelling across live theatre, film, and digital platforms. From sold-out UK stage productions to the development of a premium streaming platform, M54 builds cultural IP that travels and redefines how African stories reach global audiences. We are currently looking for a visionary Playwright / Screenwriter to join our creative team and help shape the future of African entertainment.
Key Responsibilities- Write original scripts and adapt compelling stories specifically tailored for theatre and film productions.
- Shape authentic dialogue, narrative structure, and multi-dimensional characters that deeply engage diaspora audiences.
- Collaborate closely with directors, producers, and fellow creatives during script workshops and table reads.
- Conduct thorough cultural and historical research to ensure authenticity and depth within all written material.
- Revise and polish drafts based on constructive feedback from creative leadership and production teams.
- Proven experience as a playwright, screenwriter, or narrative writer with a strong portfolio of produced or developed work.
- Deep understanding and appreciation of African culture, narratives, and the nuances of the global diaspora experience.
- Exceptional command of the English language with a demonstrable talent for crafting memorable dialogue and pacing.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a fast-paced, multidisciplinary creative environment and meet strict deadlines.
- A degree in Creative Writing, Dramatic Arts, Film, or equivalent practical experience in the entertainment industry.
