About the Role
The Katsina State Hospitals Services Management Board is seeking a dedicated and qualified Pharmacist to join our esteemed healthcare team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for the preparation, dispensing, and proper management of medications across our network of general hospitals and clinics. You will play a crucial part in ensuring the safe and effective use of drugs, providing exceptional pharmaceutical care, and advising both patients and healthcare professionals on optimal medication therapy.
Key Responsibilities- Review and dispense prescriptions accurately and safely to patients
- Provide comprehensive counseling to patients on medication use, dosage, and adherence
- Ensure proper storage, handling, and management of pharmaceutical supplies
- Monitor potential drug interactions, side effects, and contraindications
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of prescriptions and drug inventory
- Ensure strict compliance with national pharmaceutical regulations and healthcare standards
- Advise medical professionals on optimal drug therapy and rational drug use
- Supervise and mentor pharmacy support staff and technicians
- Conduct regular inventory control to prevent stockouts and medication expiries
- Participate actively in hospital pharmacy and drug management committees
- Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D) degree from a recognized institution
- Mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Discharge or Exemption Certificate
- Valid and current practicing license from the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN)
- Strong comprehensive knowledge of pharmacology, drug safety, and therapeutics
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and patient counseling skills
- Relevant clinical or hospital pharmacy experience is an added advantage
