About the Role

Renaissance Africa Energy Company Limited is a prominent independent Nigerian energy firm born from the acquisition of SPDC's major oil and gas assets. We are currently seeking a meticulous and dedicated Paralegal to join our dynamic in-house legal team. In this role, you will provide critical support to legal counsel in managing high-risk and complex litigation and arbitration matters. You will handle comprehensive document management, legal research, witness preparation, and court administrative interfaces while contributing to cost control and risk mitigation strategies in Nigeria's vibrant energy sector.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and gather information, evidence, and documents from line departments to aid in the preparation of pleadings and discovery responses.
  • Locate, contact, and schedule appropriate internal and third-party witnesses for pre-trial briefings and court depositions.
  • Manage court administrative interfaces, including visiting registries, filing certified documents, obtaining hearing dates, and interfacing with court bailiffs.
  • Maintain physical and electronic case files using the Matter Management System (MMS) and Legal Document Management System (LDMS).
  • Conduct first-line due diligence, documentary research, and site visits/locus checks, summarizing findings for legal counsel.
  • Support the legal team in preparing periodic litigation reports, data analysis, presentations, and secretariat services for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assist with litigation budget preparation, performance reviews, and the processing of external counsel, expert, and vendor invoices.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from a reputable tertiary institution.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional work experience, ideally as a litigation clerk or practice administrator in a law firm or corporate legal department.
  • Strong computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and legal database management systems.
  • Exceptional data analysis, report writing, and presentation skills with high attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet tight court deadlines, and manage competing priorities independently and as part of a team.
  • High level of professional integrity, confidentiality, and strong interpersonal skills for building stakeholder relationships.
