About the Role

Helen Keller International, a global leader dedicated to eliminating preventable vision loss and malnutrition, is seeking a motivated Nutrition Program / M&E Intern to join our team in Nigeria. In this role, you will gain hands-on experience supporting evidence-based public health and nutrition programs that build resilience and improve health outcomes for vulnerable communities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the state program team in conducting training sessions for health workers, independent monitors, and enumerators.
  • Assist in the implementation of key activities, including Maternal, Newborn and Child Health Week (MNCHW) campaign coordination, supervision, and reporting.
  • Collaborate with facility health workers to ensure accurate data collection and entry into call-in-data systems.
  • Participate in data quality assessments, such as spot checks, data validation, and coverage surveys.
  • Assist in tracking and distributing MNCHW commodities from state medical stores to last-mile health facilities.
  • Support the documentation of program activities, including filing soft and hard copies of financial and monitoring documents.
  • Assist in drafting compelling case studies and success stories highlighting program impact.
  • Willingness to travel and work in remote Local Government Areas (LGAs) and communities during campaign periods.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Public Health, Health Sciences, or a related field.
  • Prior experience or coursework in nutrition and community-based programming is an added advantage.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English, with professional fluency.
  • Proficiency in speaking and understanding Hausa is required for effective community engagement.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, demonstrating empathy, respect, and cultural sensitivity toward all beneficiaries.
  • Good foundational IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and data collection tools.
