About the Role
Medison Specialist Women's Hospital is seeking a dedicated and skilled Medical Laboratory Technologist to join our dynamic healthcare team in Nigeria. In this role, you will provide safe, accurate, and timely laboratory services that directly support our clinical activities, with a particular focus on obstetrics, gynecology, fertility, and reproductive medicine. You will operate strictly in accordance with the standards of the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN) while upholding our commitment to exceptional patient care, safety, and confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities- Perform authorized clinical investigations including hematology, clinical chemistry, microbiology, serology, hormonal assays, and full reproductive medicine tests.
- Manage specimens accurately from patient identification and collection to processing, storage, and traceability, adhering to strict rejection criteria when necessary.
- Comply with the Medison Laboratory Quality Management System, conducting internal quality controls, equipment calibration, and routine audits.
- Operate laboratory equipment safely, report malfunctions immediately, and maintain optimal environmental conditions.
- Monitor reagent inventory, check expiry dates, and apply proper stock rotation to minimize wastage.
- Ensure accurate result entry, verify patient identification, and promptly escalate critical or abnormal findings to appropriate clinicians.
- Observe strict biosafety standards, wear appropriate PPE, manage sharps safely, and dispose of biological waste in line with health and safety protocols.
- Maintain absolute confidentiality regarding patient identity, laboratory results, fertility investigations, and IVF-related information.
- Must possess a recognized Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in Medical Laboratory Science.
- Current and valid practicing license and registration with the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN).
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant post-qualification laboratory experience, preferably within a private hospital, specialist women's hospital, or fertility/IVF center.
- Demonstrated proficiency in automated laboratory systems, hormonal assays, and routine diagnostic testing.
- Strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a high sense of professional ethics and confidentiality.
