About the Role
The African Medical Centre of Excellence (AMCE) Abuja is a premier 500-bed specialty hospital dedicated to transforming healthcare across Africa through world-class diagnostics, clinical care, and research, developed by Afreximbank in partnership with King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. We are currently seeking a skilled Medical Laboratory Scientist specializing in Immunophenotyping to lead advanced flow cytometry services, supporting the diagnosis and management of complex hematological conditions.
Key Responsibilities- Perform, analyze, and interpret complex flow cytometry assays for leukemia, lymphoma, stem cell analysis, and related immunophenotyping applications.
- Ensure strict adherence to ISO 15189:2022 standards by monitoring Internal Quality Control (IQC) and External Quality Assurance (EQA) samples.
- Assist in the development, optimization, and validation of new flow cytometry panels and clinical procedures.
- Operate, calibrate, and troubleshoot advanced flow cytometers while maintaining accurate reagent inventories and equipment logs.
- Provide comprehensive training, mentoring, and competency assessments for junior laboratory staff and technicians.
- Collaborate closely with consultant hematologists, clinical scientists, and multidisciplinary teams to enhance patient diagnostic outcomes.
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or a recognized equivalent.
- Minimum of 3 years of clinical laboratory experience specializing in flow cytometry and hematology.
- Specialist certification in flow cytometry or immunophenotyping is highly advantageous.
- In-depth expertise in hematological malignancies, cellular immunology, and cytometric data analysis.
- Demonstrated knowledge of quality management systems and ISO 15189 laboratory standards.
