About the Role
The International Organization for Migration (IOM), the leading inter-governmental organization in migration management, is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join its Migration Health Assessment Centre (MHAC) in Lagos, Nigeria. In this role, you will be instrumental in ensuring the orderly and humane management of migration by providing essential administrative, data processing, and client support services to migrants, refugees, and partners.
Key Responsibilities- Provide accurate information regarding health assessments to migrants via phone, email, and in-person interactions.
- Register applicants in the IOM database, schedule medical appointments, and maintain daily statistics.
- Perform data processing activities, including identity verification, biodata entry, and capturing applicant photographs using approved devices.
- Receive, sort, package, and securely transmit completed medical examination forms, x-rays, and documentation to relevant partners and country offices.
- Maintain comprehensive filing systems for incoming and outgoing correspondence, reports, and medical forms while ensuring strict data privacy.
- Handle bank deposit slips and payment proofs, coordinating regularly with the Administrative and Finance team.
- University Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Statistics, Social Sciences, Business Administration, or a related field with at least 2 years of relevant experience; OR Secondary School Diploma with at least 4 years of relevant experience.
- High computer literacy in Windows and MS Office applications, with a typing speed of at least 60 words per minute.
- Previous experience in computer data entry, elaboration, data analysis, or working in a busy call centre, preferably within a medical or NGO environment.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, customer orientation, and the ability to adapt to diverse personalities.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and multi-tasking skills with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
