About the Role
Mikano International, Nigeria's premier power solution provider, is looking for a dedicated and experienced Mechanical Technician to join our dynamic manufacturing team. In this role, you will leverage modern technology and heavy-duty machinery to assemble, balance, and troubleshoot industrial generator sets ranging from 9kVA to 5000kVA, ensuring top-tier quality and efficiency in our state-of-the-art facility.
Key Responsibilities- Handle steel fabricating materials for generator sets including base tanks, frames, and crossbars.
- Determine correct sizes and quantities of raw materials, nuts, bolts, washers, oil, and coolant for various series.
- Execute machine balancing and safely utilize overhead cranes and trolleys to lift and position heavy equipment.
- Inspect assembled generator units for proper alignment and balance between engines, alternators, and anti-vibration mountings.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues such as fluid leaks, abnormal vibrations, exhaust smoke, and air in fuel systems.
- Utilize precision measurement tools and equipment including torque wrenches, vernier calipers, and air ratchets.
- Interpret generator technical manuals and report any discrepancies or damaged parts promptly.
- Maintain a safe, organized workspace by properly storing tools and shutting down machinery at the end of each shift.
- Minimum of an Ordinary National Diploma (OND) in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
- At least 3 years of hands-on professional experience in generator set production, assembly, or mechanical maintenance.
- Strong knowledge of steel fabrication components and heavy machinery operation.
