About the Role
Omacart is a dynamic on-demand e-commerce and logistics platform revolutionizing everyday shopping in Nigeria by connecting customers with their favorite local stores for rapid one-hour delivery. We are currently seeking a skilled and proactive Legal Manager to join our growing team in Lagos. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in shaping our legal strategies, ensuring robust regulatory compliance, and supporting our rapid market expansion across the region. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to navigate the complex legal landscape of the Nigerian tech and delivery ecosystem, safeguarding the company's interests while enabling seamless business operations.
Key Responsibilities- Draft, review, negotiate, and manage a wide range of commercial agreements, partnerships, and vendor contracts.
- Develop and implement comprehensive legal policies, compliance frameworks, and corporate governance processes.
- Monitor and advise on evolving laws and regulations affecting e-commerce, logistics, employment, consumer protection, payments, and digital privacy in Nigeria.
- Support strategic regulatory engagements, licensing requirements, government relations, and regional market expansion initiatives.
- Identify, assess, and proactively manage legal and operational risks across all business verticals.
- Manage legal escalations, customer claims, disputes, and corporate investigations in coordination with external counsel where necessary.
- Build scalable contract workflows, standardized legal templates, and internal compliance processes to support business growth.
- Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) and Call to the Nigerian Bar (B.L).
- Proven experience in commercial law, corporate law, regulatory compliance, technology law, fintech, logistics, or e-commerce startup environments.
- Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills combined with sound, practical business judgment.
- Exceptional ability to communicate complex legal issues clearly and concisely to non-legal stakeholders.
