About the Role

We are currently seeking a strategic and driven Legal Counsel to join our team in Nigeria. In this pivotal role, you will provide comprehensive legal support to our core exploration and production operations while ensuring strict regulatory and corporate compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
Key Responsibilities- Provide expert legal advice on transaction structuring, capital markets, debt and equity financing, and complex commercial negotiations.
- Advise on oil and gas exploration, development, and production operations, including community relations and land matters.
- Draft, review, and negotiate high-stakes contracts, agreements, corporate resolutions, and legal correspondence.
- Coordinate the effective management of litigation and oversee external legal counsel.
- Monitor evolving legal and regulatory frameworks, proactively developing defensive and strategic solutions to protect company interests.
- Collaborate closely with technical, operations, finance, and multidisciplinary internal teams.
- Bachelor's degree in Law (LL.B.) or Juris Doctor (J.D.), with a Master's degree in Law considered an advantage.
- Valid Nigerian Law School qualification and active membership in the Nigerian Bar Association.
- Minimum of 10 years of professional legal experience, with robust experience supporting technical and operations teams within an E&P Oil and Gas company.
- Comprehensive knowledge of corporate law in Nigeria, the UK, and the US, alongside strong contract management skills.
