About the Role
Federal University Lafia was established in February 2011 with the mandate to increase access and quality of university education in Nigeria. Located in Lafia, the capital of Nasarawa State, the institution boasts a dynamic academic community comprising a College of Medicine, multiple specialized schools, and several faculties offering diverse undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. We are currently inviting suitably qualified academics to join our prestigious College of Medicine as a Lecturer II in Psychiatry, contributing to the advancement of mental health education, clinical training, and psychological research in Nigeria.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver engaging undergraduate and postgraduate lectures in Psychiatry within the College of Medicine.
- Supervise student research projects, dissertations, and clinical rotations.
- Conduct high-quality, peer-reviewed academic research and publish findings in reputable local and international journals.
- Participate actively in curriculum development, departmental meetings, and faculty committees.
- Provide mentorship and academic guidance to medical students and junior researchers.
- Engage in community service and institutional advancement initiatives related to mental health and healthcare delivery.
- Possession of a Ph.D. degree in Psychiatry or a relevant medical field from a recognized and accredited institution.
- Alternatively, a Master's degree in a relevant field with a minimum of two (2) journal publications, alongside at least three (3) years of post-qualification teaching and research experience at the university level.
