About the Role
The University of Benin (UNIBEN) is seeking a qualified and dynamic Lecturer I to join our esteemed Department of Civil Engineering within the Faculty of Engineering. As a Lecturer I in Structural Engineering, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of engineers by delivering comprehensive lectures, supervising undergraduate and postgraduate students, and contributing to the advancement of structural engineering knowledge through rigorous research and publication.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver engaging lectures, tutorials, and practical sessions for undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Structural Engineering.
- Supervise student research projects, theses, and dissertations at various academic levels.
- Conduct high-impact research and publish scholarly articles in reputable peer-reviewed journals.
- Participate in departmental, faculty, and university committee meetings and administrative duties as assigned.
- Contribute to curriculum development and program accreditation processes.
- Engage in community service and professional outreach initiatives representing the university.
- A First Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering with a minimum of a Second Class Upper Division, or a Second Class Lower Division with a relevant PhD.
- Possession of a PhD or Master's degree in Structural Engineering or a closely related field.
- A minimum of three (3) years of teaching and research experience in a tertiary institution.
- At least three (3) peer-reviewed academic publications in recognized journals.
- Professional registration with relevant bodies such as COREN is highly desirable.
