About the Role
The University of Benin (UNIBEN), a premier federal university committed to academic excellence and groundbreaking research, is seeking a qualified and dedicated professional to join our esteemed Faculty of Pharmacy as a Lecturer I in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in shaping the next generation of healthcare professionals through innovative teaching, rigorous curriculum delivery, and impactful research initiatives within a vibrant academic community.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver engaging undergraduate and postgraduate lectures, tutorials, and practical laboratory sessions in Pharmacology and Toxicology.
- Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate student research projects, dissertations, and theses.
- Conduct high-quality, peer-reviewed academic research and publish findings in reputable national and international journals.
- Participate actively in departmental, faculty, and university committee meetings, as well as institutional accreditation exercises.
- Provide academic advising, mentorship, and career guidance to students within the department.
- Engage in community service and institutional development initiatives aligned with the university's core mission.
- Possession of a PhD in Pharmacology and Toxicology, or a Master's degree with a minimum of three (3) years of tertiary teaching experience and at least three (3) peer-reviewed publications.
- A stellar academic background including a Bachelor's degree (First Class or Second Class Upper Division), OR a Second Class Lower Division with a PhD.
- Demonstrated ability to attract research grants and collaborate on multidisciplinary scientific studies is an added advantage.
