About the Role
The African Medical Centre of Excellence (AMCE) Abuja is seeking an experienced and visionary Lead Anaesthetist to direct our anaesthesia services. Developed by Afreximbank in partnership with King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, AMCE is a state-of-the-art 500-bed specialty hospital committed to delivering exceptional, patient-centred healthcare across Africa. In this pivotal role, you will lead a dedicated team of anaesthetists, drive clinical governance, and ensure the highest standards of safety and care during complex surgical and diagnostic procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Provide comprehensive clinical leadership and operational oversight to the entire anaesthesia department.
- Serve as the primary consultant for complex, high-risk surgical cases and critical care management.
- Develop and implement evidence-based clinical protocols, quality improvement initiatives, and patient safety programs.
- Manage departmental resources, technology integration, and staff development through structured mentorship and training.
- Collaborate seamlessly with multidisciplinary teams across surgery, intensive care, and interventional radiology.
- Medical Degree (MBBS/MD or equivalent) from a recognized institution with a valid practicing license.
- Board Certification in Anesthesiology (e.g., FWACS, FMCNA, or equivalent international certification).
- Extensive clinical experience with proven leadership in managing hospital anaesthesia departments.
- Demonstrated expertise in advanced anaesthesia techniques, critical care, and clinical governance.
