About the Role
eHealth4everyone is a leading digital health social enterprise dedicated to making the world healthier through technology-enabled optimizations. We are currently seeking a motivated Junior Backend Engineer with foundational knowledge of PHP, Drupal, and Symfony to join our technical team in supporting a vital health information platform. In this role, you will work alongside experienced engineers to maintain existing functionality, troubleshoot issues, implement enhancements, and gradually take on greater responsibilities while accelerating your software development career in a mission-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities- Support the maintenance and development of backend features on a Drupal-based health information platform.
- Develop and modify Drupal modules and backend functionality under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Work with Symfony components and PHP to implement and maintain core application features.
- Support API development and integration with external systems and services.
- Assist with debugging, troubleshooting, and resolving application and database issues.
- Participate in code reviews, testing, and deployment activities alongside the engineering team.
- Follow established coding, security, and documentation standards to ensure system reliability.
- Document technical changes and contribute to continuous knowledge transfer within the team.
- Zero to three years of relevant backend development experience, including academic projects, internships, or open-source contributions.
- Basic to intermediate knowledge of PHP and backend application development principles.
- Practical knowledge or exposure to Drupal, preferably Drupal 9 or 10.
- Basic understanding of Symfony and Symfony-based application development.
- Understanding of REST APIs and relational databases with SQL.
- Familiarity with Git version control, software testing, and debugging techniques.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a genuine willingness to learn within an existing production platform.
