About the Role
Proten is seeking a dedicated and commercially minded In-House Legal Counsel Officer to serve as our primary legal resource across retail, production, warehouse, logistics, and support operations in Lagos, Abuja, and Port Harcourt. In this dynamic role, you will provide robust legal support, ensure regulatory compliance, and safeguard the company's commercial interests.
Key Responsibilities- Provide practical legal advice on corporate, commercial, regulatory, labour, and tax matters across all business pillars.
- Draft, review, and negotiate complex contracts, MOUs, SLAs, NDAs, and vendor agreements.
- Serve as the primary liaison with external counsel, managing litigation, regulatory filings, and legal costs.
- Ensure continuous compliance with statutory obligations including CAC, FIRS, NSITF, and PenCom.
- Support corporate governance, statutory filings, board resolutions, and company secretarial duties.
- Partner with HR, Finance, Procurement, and Internal Control to mitigate legal risks and resolve disputes.
- LL.B (Bachelor of Laws) and Call to the Nigerian Bar (B.L) are strictly required.
- Minimum of 5 years of post-call experience in corporate or commercial law within a reputable law firm or in-house environment.
- Strong working knowledge of Nigerian corporate law, CAMA, FCCPA, labour laws, and regulatory frameworks.
- Demonstrated excellence in contract drafting, negotiation, regulatory compliance, and litigation coordination.
