About the Role
TechnoServe is a renowned nonprofit organization dedicated to developing business solutions to poverty by linking people to information, capital, and markets. We are currently seeking a dynamic and experienced Intercrops Technical Manager to provide strategic leadership across our priority tomato and ginger value chains in Nigeria. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the design and implementation of innovative interventions that enhance processing efficiency, quality assurance, and market competitiveness for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
Key Responsibilities- Lead the design and execution of technical strategies for tomato and ginger value chains, focusing on value addition, post-harvest handling, and food safety.
- Provide expert guidance on processing equipment selection, facility layouts, and operational efficiency to agribusinesses and women-led enterprises.
- Forge strategic partnerships with private sector processors, aggregators, financial institutions, and government stakeholders including NAFDAC and SON.
- Design and deliver comprehensive capacity-building programs, training modules on good manufacturing practices, and investment-readiness support.
- Collaborate closely with the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) team to track key performance indicators, ensure data integrity, and adapt project interventions.
- Integrate cross-cutting priorities such as gender inclusion, youth empowerment, and climate-smart agricultural practices into daily field activities.
- Advanced degree in Agricultural Science, Food Science, Agricultural Engineering, Agribusiness, or a related field with at least 5 years of relevant professional experience (7 years for Bachelor's degree holders).
- Demonstrated technical expertise in tomato and ginger processing technologies, post-harvest systems, and national food safety standards.
- Proven track record of managing multi-stakeholder agricultural projects and collaborating with private sector actors in Nigeria.
- Strong background in designing technical training programs and supporting SMEs to achieve investment-readiness.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills with a willingness to travel frequently to field locations.
