About the Role
Afripoint Group Limited is a global innovative company leveraging technology to drive cross-border businesses, and we are currently seeking a competent, proactive, and detail-oriented In-House Legal Counsel & Compliance Officer. In this role, you will provide essential legal guidance, manage corporate legal affairs, and ensure strict compliance with applicable Nigerian laws, regulations, and corporate governance standards to support our rapid business growth.
Key Responsibilities- Draft, review, and negotiate various business contracts, service agreements, and memoranda of understanding to protect company interests.
- Provide expert legal advisory to management on corporate operations, employment matters, and commercial transactions.
- Monitor regulatory changes and ensure timely statutory filings, permit renewals, and adherence to compliance obligations.
- Support the HR department by reviewing workplace policies, employment contracts, and managing labor law compliance.
- Manage ongoing legal disputes, liaise with external solicitors, and maintain comprehensive litigation and contract registers.
- Identify potential legal and regulatory risks, recommending proactive mitigation strategies across all departments.
- Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree from a recognized university.
- Must have been called to the Nigerian Bar (B.L) with 2 to 4 years of relevant post-call experience in corporate/commercial law or compliance.
- Strong working knowledge of Nigerian corporate, commercial, labor, and regulatory frameworks.
- Demonstrated expertise in contract drafting, vetting, and complex stakeholder negotiation.
