About the Role
Collection Developments is a dynamic real estate firm dedicated to creating exceptional properties and vibrant spaces that deliver lasting commercial and social value. We are currently seeking a seasoned HSE Manager to lead our health, safety, and environmental strategies on major construction projects in Nigeria, ensuring our commitment to a zero-harm workplace.
Key Responsibilities- Author and maintain the Construction Phase Health and Safety Plan, updating it as projects evolve.
- Manage the permit-to-work system for high-risk activities including hot works, working at height, and lifting operations.
- Conduct weekly formal safety inspections, produce written reports, and ensure prompt closure of all corrective actions.
- Chair weekly safety meetings with construction managers, MEP managers, and project leadership.
- Supervise all site HSE Officers and the Environmental Compliance Officer to maintain strict regulatory adherence.
- Investigate all incidents, near-misses, and unsafe conditions, implementing effective corrective measures.
- Manage statutory safety notifications, regulatory interfaces, and produce monthly safety statistics reports.
- Oversee comprehensive site inductions for all workers and manage scaffolding and working-at-height equipment inspection programmes.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline plus recognized qualifications such as the NEBOSH Construction Certificate or International Diploma.
- Minimum of 12 years of HSE experience, with at least 5 years serving as an HSE Manager on major construction projects in Nigeria.
- Strong working knowledge of Nigerian construction safety legislation and the Lagos State building control framework.
- Active membership in the Institute of Safety Professionals of Nigeria (ISPON) is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated natural authority on safety matters with exceptional incident reporting and stakeholder engagement skills.
