About the Role
iRecruiters Africa is hiring a strategic and hands-on Head of Operations to lead our client's downstream oil and gas logistics and transportation functions nationwide. In this critical leadership role, you will take overall responsibility for the efficient, safe, and cost-effective movement of petroleum products, maximizing the productivity of a large-scale commercial fleet.
Key Responsibilities- Provide strategic leadership for operations, fleet management, transportation, and logistics functions across all national locations.
- Take full operational ownership of a 100+ truck fleet, ensuring optimal availability, utilization, and minimal downtime.
- Develop daily, weekly, and monthly transportation plans for the timely distribution of petroleum products to depots and service stations.
- Oversee route planning, dispatch management, truck scheduling, delivery coordination, and driver performance.
- Enforce strict compliance with Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) standards and Nigerian regulatory requirements.
- Monitor fuel consumption, trip costs, and maintenance expenditures to implement effective cost-control measures.
- Manage key relationships with depots, workshops, transport partners, regulatory bodies, and internal departmental stakeholders.
- Bachelor's degree in Transport Management, Logistics, Engineering, Supply Chain, or Business Administration.
- 10 to 15+ years of progressive operations and fleet management experience, with significant senior-level expertise.
- Demonstrated core experience in downstream oil and gas petroleum product haulage and distribution.
- Proven ability to successfully manage a commercial fleet of 100+ heavy-duty trucks and large dispersed teams.
- Strong expertise in route planning, preventive maintenance, fleet KPIs, and operational cost control.
