About the Role
Moniepoint is a leading financial technology company digitising Africa’s real economy by building a comprehensive financial ecosystem for businesses. We are looking for a visionary Head of Engineering to lead our Sales and Marketing Tools division. This domain encompasses MonieCRM, our in-house workforce operations platform that powers a 50,000-strong field sales network, handling critical workflows such as wallets, commission calculations, and partner management for over 20 million users. You will spearhead a legacy modernisation and platform engineering challenge, ensuring absolute financial correctness and high availability without requiring prior CRM or SalesTech experience.
Key Responsibilities- Lead, mentor, and develop a large, high-performing engineering organisation of 20+ members through engineering managers.
- Drive the legacy modernisation and re-architecture of high-throughput distributed systems to reliably support massive scaling.
- Ensure flawless financial correctness for core systems managing wallets, commission calculations, payouts, and welfare funds.
- Collaborate closely with product, commercial, and executive stakeholders to deliver dependable internal tooling that accelerates business growth.
- Instil engineering best practices around systemisation, craft, and urgency while embodying Moniepoint's core cultural dimensions.
- 10 to 15 years of overall software engineering experience, including at least 5 years leading engineering teams through growth phases.
- 5+ years of hands-on, production-level experience writing and shipping Java code using Spring Boot.
- At least 5 years of experience managing engineering managers within complex distributed environments.
- Proven platform engineering expertise with a strong track record of navigating legacy migrations at scale (20M+ users).
- Strong background in fintech, payments, or systems where financial correctness and high-throughput data processing are paramount.
- Own the core engineering platform behind the commercial engine of one of Africa’s leading digital banks.
