About the Role
The African Medical Centre of Excellence (AMCE) Abuja is a premier 500-bed specialty hospital dedicated to providing world-class comprehensive diagnostics and treatment in oncology, cardiovascular, and haematological care. Developed in clinical partnership with Kings College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, AMCE Abuja offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of specialized healthcare in Africa. We are seeking an experienced and visionary Head Nurse to lead our Oncology and Haematology directorates, ensuring the delivery of exceptional, evidence-based, and compassionate nursing care.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement the strategic nursing vision for inpatient wards, day treatment centres, and chemotherapy suites.
- Ensure 100% adherence to evidence-based protocols for chemotherapy administration, hazardous drug safety, and infection prevention.
- Manage patient flow, optimize resource utilization, and oversee staffing, skill mix, and high-cost supply inventories.
- Lead departmental preparations for international accreditation, drive clinical audits, and champion quality improvement projects.
- Promote clinical research, facilitate nursing participation in clinical trials, and integrate advanced nursing technologies.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BScN) or equivalent; Master's degree in Nursing or Healthcare Leadership is a strong advantage.
- Active, valid Registered Nurse (RN) license with a recognized nursing council.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive clinical nursing experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership or managerial role within oncology and haematology.
- Specialized certifications in Oncology Nursing (e.g., OCN, AOCN) and Chemotherapy Administration.
- Proven expertise in multidisciplinary team leadership, clinical governance, and EMR integration.
